Bring Your Batteries to We Day Toronto!

On October 2, we are launching the Zinc Saves Lives Battery Recycling Campaign at We Day Toronto to keep batteries out of landfills and help get zinc to the children who need it most.
Bring your used household batteries to the Air Canada Centre on October 2 to help save a child’s life! Every AA battery contains the amount of zinc needed to save the lives of six children.
Not attending We Day? You can still participate by dropping off your used batteries at any Call2Recycle location across Canada. Report the number of batteries you recycled on this page starting October 2 to join the campaign.
For every battery recycled, Teck will donate the value of zinc it contains to UNICEF in support of our Zinc & Health partnership in India. Help us spread the word on social media with the hashtag #zincsaveslives!

Our Zinc & Health Program

Each year, nearly 450,000 children die as a result of not having enough zinc in their diet. Millions more suffer from complications associated with zinc deficiency, including a weakened immune system and stunted growth.

In 2011, we launched our Zinc & Health program to raise awareness about zinc deficiency and partner with international organizations to help get zinc to those who need it most.

To date, we have reached nearly 80 million people worldwide. Visit our Programs & Partnerships page to learn more about how Teck’s Zinc & Health program is making a difference around the world.
